GROUNDS

Less than a mile from the center of Old Forge, nestled among the trees and overlooking First Lake Channel are The Lakes (formerly known as The Narrows of Old Forge) - a luxury cottage colony that will take your breath away all year round!

There are eight cottages and a three-bedroom house. Each cottage comes with a fire pit surrounded by Adirondack style chairs, a picnic table and a charcoal grill. Two large decks; a sunbathing/star gazing deck and a dinning deck overlooking the channel are an extra layer of relaxation for our guests to enjoy and mingle!

 

The waterfront sitting area complete with Adirondack style chairs, bar stools is our favorite to enjoy a morning coffee, an afternoon tea or an evening cocktail while watching the boats, kayaks or canoes go by. It never gets old! Docking facilities are available for those who wish to bring their own boat and it’s by reservation only.  Fishing is always a favorite right off the dock.

Our cottages boast an open floor plan, cathedral ceilings, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, beautiful pine throughout, spacious bathrooms with showers and a cozy and charming Adirondack décor all around. 

 

Combination living room with a modern kitchen with a breakfast nook and queen size bedrooms were designed with comfort and practicality in mind!  Each cottage sleeps anywhere from 1-5 and all have wifi, basic cable, TV, dishes, pots and pans, cooking utensils, cups and glasses, silverware, etc, etc. Pillows and blankets are also provided! Bed linens and towels are not included.

The Lakes is located on the First lake Channel that connects to First Lake and Old Forge Pond. Boat docking is available for an extra fee and by reservation only (limited availability).

 

Indulge in boating, kayaking, fishing, picnicking, shopping or just sit back and experience the peace and quiet that surrounds you. We have kayaks, paddle boards and canoes for our registered guests to enjoy free of charge.

 

The Lakes is within a walking distance of the public beach, water park, tennis courts, boat tours, churches, grocery stores, quaint gift shops, movie theater, arcade, miniature golf, and the community art center. Not to mention the excellent restaurants, hiking trails, lakes and ponds for fishing, that are also nearby. 

 

Also close by are two championship 18-hole golf courses: Thendara and Inlet.  The McCauley Mountain chairlift and picnic area has a spectacular view of the village of Old Forge and the Fulton Chain of Lakes.

Enjoy the scenic wonderland and take part in the many activities available in the area such as, hiking, foliage, hunting, ice skating, downhill or cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing or snowmobiling!   

 

Enjoy over 500 miles of groomed snowmobile trails!  We also have plenty of room for trailer parking. You can ride right from your door to Trail #4!
